Rajasthan's architectural and cultural heritage is preserved in the numerous forts, palaces, havelis and sacred sites of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaisalmer as well as their inhabitants' traditional customs and colourful attire. The Rajputs maintained much of the region's cultural independence during the Mughal and British incursions. The Thar Desert, bordering Pakistan, covers much of the West of the state. |
